Duck Feed Update!

We switched our feed from Kalmbach Feeds to Mazuri. After a lot of research, it seems this feed would be the best for our flock. After consulting with an avian expert, I was advised to use their maintenance blend and supplement with oyster shells for our females. I was told that they do not recommend feeding breeder feed to non-laying birds for males. The following is the response I received, "the calcium level is too high in the Breeder diet for non-laying birds and could cause bone defects, kidney failure, and in males sterility. If you have a mixed flock of males and females then we recommend feeding the Maintenance diet and providing a dish of oyster shells".

We will continue to provide scratch, oyster shells, and occasionally tomatoes and lettuce (grown by us).
